The DBS Update Service
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) update service lets applicants keep their DBS certificates up to date online and allows employers to check a certificate instantly online, at anytime to see if there has been any changes since it was printed. It also allows you to take your DBS from role to role, where the same level and typeof check it required. This can save you both time and money. You only have to pay for one DBS and it never needs renewing. Additionally, the update service could give you a crucial edge when applying for new roles as you will already have an up-to-date DBS!
Once your DBS has been sent for processing you are able to register online. If applying before your certificate arrives you will need your application reference and if you want to wait and register once your certificate arrives you can do this by using your certificate number. Please do bear in mind you only get 19 days from the date your certificate is printed to get on the update service so you must act quickly. Registration is £13.00 and in renewed annually.
