Are you a recent graduate with your sights now set on building experience in a school setting as a teaching assistant? Are you interested in teaching or building a career in education? An Ofsted Outstanding school based in South London is currently looking to take on two ambitious graduates to work as teaching assistants for the rest of this academic year with a commitment to Nov 2016 – July 2017. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers to develop the necessary tools and experience required to move on to a PGCE, Teach First or School Direct programme in the future.

This three form entry primary school is the perfect playground for a driven graduate to work as a teaching assistant.

The Role:

The school are looking for two dedicated individuals with a genuine passion for working with children and some previous experience in a supporting role with young people. As a General classroom support teaching assistant / SEN teaching assistant your responsibilities will be:

  • To provide continued support for the teacher within a chosen classroom for the academic year.
  • To carry out one to one and small group intervention work with students.
  • Providing tuition and booster sessions with pupils working at a lower ability or on the Special Educational Needs register.
  • Guided Reading sessions and providing numeracy and literacy support.
  • To aid the school where necessary becoming an integral part of the schools support team.
  • Working one to one with students working to a lower ability in order to provide increased levels of support.

The positions available cover classes in both key stage 1 and key stage 2 and if successful in your teaching assistant application classes will be allocated dependent on your strengths and your wishes will be taken into account.
